It's hard to believe these guys (and a girl) are from France. The unbridled fiery fury with which they unleash their merciless and unrelenting attack on their listeners would make even the young Brazilian reprobates flinch and make them think of it as a terrible and unacceptable act of cruelty. Listening to Psychobolia's deceptive soft piano intro song with whispered female vocals is like walking through a garden in bloom, wondering what the mysterious sounding woman looks like as you pluck a flower playfully and bring it close to your nose…when the next song begins and you suddenly find yourself caught between vicious brain-rattling volleys of death metal gunfire spewing out from your earphones. I speak from experience that no amount of ducking or running around covering your head will help. The turmoil will automatically subside in half an hour and then you can stumble and stagger about as dramatically as you like.

Fisting You All presents you with 13 short but powerful ear piercing jabs (including a bonus one to the eye socket) of concentrated vehemence in the pulsating vein of bands such as Krisiun, Ravager, Vader, Centurian and Angelcorpse in their prime. Knowing you, if you are familiar with even one of them in form, piss should be trickling down your legs right now. A veritable death metal inferno is raged, and fanned by the undeniable competency and stamina of the musicians, it remains unabated throughout the duration of the album. With the heady gusto of Krisiun and the malevolence of Angelcorpse, riffs as sharp and pointed as shurikens are flung at you with the precision of a marksman and at a speed faster than your thought of dodging them. And instead of ninja yelps to go with them, you have Caroline's death metal vocals to serve the purpose of unsettling you. Whoever commented, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” must have done so after hearing her performance on this album. Delivering with some force, she never really simmers down and at the drop of the hat changes the tone of her voice from unbelievably hoarse barks to shrill scathing shrieks. I had to check several times whether she was indeed the one producing such spiteful sounds; the growling beauty was, and I fell victim to yet another hopeless case of unrequited love.

Fisting You All has a venomous sound and atmosphere comparable to that of Ravager's Storm of Sin and thankfully here the riffs have more bulk and the drums don't sound like someone typing frantically on a typewriter. While it is indeed a sadistic pleasure to listen to pure death metal this raging, potent, and vitriolic, it easily gets repetitious and your interest can wear thin soon, which is not too surprising when you take into account their average song length which hovers around the two minute mark. Naturally there is not much scope left for the songs to develop, and even through the band tries to compress everything in them including leads and all, it sounds but too hurried. With the kind of ferocity and fiery execution that is on display here, I longed in vain to hear a gratifying song progression as showcased by say, Rebaelliun or heck, even sounding close to any of the elaborate songs of the aforementioned bands.

This is an intense full length debut by Psychobolia and I have a feeling that the band is only going to get better from here on. It wouldn't be foolhardy to spend your money on Fisting You All for it will provide you with a quick and sure rush of pure death metal that everyone needs so badly these days.
