Interview with Lille Gruber of the German Brutal Death Metal band DEFEATED SANITY

"''Chapters of Repugnance' will be a concept album dealing with some of humanity's darkest chapters."

"(On our new material) we have found our perfect balance between tradition and avant-garde."

"As a musician you don't wanna sit at home all week and have one rehearsal a week/month, you wanna go out there and play every night."

"I would rather like to see fans supporting young, fresh bands! Nostalgia is bullshit!"

Willowtip just drop the bomb! DS is now part of Willowtip!!!

Germany's Defeated Sanity have officially signed with Willowtip Records. The band is set to head into the studio this summer to record their third full-length album, "Chapters Of Repugnance" for a late 2009/early 2010 release. Recording will take place at Soundforge Studios in Berlin. The bands previous full length “Psalms of the Moribund” (2007, Grindthic) is widely considered a classic in the brutal/technical death metal genre. In 2008, Defeated Sanity toured the US and also appeared at the Maryland Deathfest. Demo tracks from Defeated Sanity’s upcoming album can be heard at their myspace http://www.myspace.com/defeatedsanity

It's a great piece indeed, and successfully digs into some of the interesting aspects of the Defeated Sanity.

...just a pity that Grindethic aren't part of the future of this band...

I thought we would be helping your label by conducting this interview! It was one of the main reasons for suggesting the DS intie idea to Ewan.

haha, no harsh feelings, really.

We've still got a great relationship with Lille and co.  This label would not be where it is now if it weren't for them!  We wish them the best, the sky is the limit!  We're particularly happy as we know the ethos of the band will remain unchanged; they will always crush!!!

Plus, DS kept us involved in the label negotiations until the very end (they did get LOADS of offers, haha). So this didn't come as any form of surprise.  And passing on the baton to Willowtip is no shame either!  Grin  I just hope those guys look well after DS!
