Whoa! You guys know each other or have met before!?
Mike and I have known one another for a fair while now. I could tell you the exact date I first met Mike as it was at The Dillinger Escape Plan's first ever UK gig back in 2000. There had been earlier near meetings as well which I still find amusing to this day... Napalm Death at the Wedgewood Rooms, Korrodead at the Red Eye... Hehe.
I think it might have been ND at the Nexus, although I've definitely seen ND at the WR (and about six other times around UK).
That Red Eye gig was special. The birth of Akercocke in front of the general public and the reason I'm thanked on the Empty Words website. [Gloat]

I remember the details of it so well it will freak you out. It freaks me out. To be pendantic, it wasn't at the gig, but on the Northern Line on the way to the gig. I'd met Lal at Tottenham Ct Rd as he'd come across from Bank. We let the first train go past as it was packed. Hopped on the next one, and a few minutes into the journey up to Camden Lal spots you in the same carriage as us - you must've come up from Waterloo. So that's coincidence enough that you happened to be in the same carriage of the same train as us during rush hour in central London. During the journey you ask me whether I had been at the Napalm Death gig in Pompey which had been earlier that year, which I had, and somehow you'd remembered seeing me there despite the fact we were complete strangers at that point. The only things I remember about that Napalm Death gig are drinking too much and some big guy in, funnily enough, an Incantation 'Diabolical Conquest' T shirt, which I thought was just awesome. Hehe.
The Napalm Death gig at the Nexus wasn't until Autumn 2001, but we also discovered that I'd seen you at the Red Eye (supporting Akercocke eh? Was that also with Hecate Enthroned?) in the summer of 2000, but again I didn't know you from Adam at the time. I just remember you did a wicked cover of some Nile track, which impressed me no end :-)

That's so cool! I kinda remember snippets of how or when I met a close pal or two, and what happened, maybe not the exact conversation, but yeah close.
+ 1 to you guys.
I didn't know Mike played guitars or is/ was in a band?!

I'll have to trust you to delete tracks 1-8 after you've downloaded it but you have my permission to keep the rest as I played bass on 'em. It was recorded in two days for £500 with plenty of boiling hate. Don't expect hermetic tightness and uber-technicality but I'm still proud of it over 6 years on, mainly because it has originality. But I'm biased of course!

I always remember faces and I remember a guy I was with at the ND gig who was on a Cabbage Soup diet (I was trying hard to headbang but his flatulence drove me away to the bar!)
1st time at the RedEye Hecate weren't there but 7th Child were. We all had to play a Death cover each. We did "Born Dead". 2nd time was a quieter gig where we did "Stones of Sorrow". The others wanted to do "Barra Edinazzu" but being Mr. f**kin' sensible I thought our precious practice time was better devoted to our material - it would have taken 5 times longer to learn that one!

Thanks Mike, I've downloaded it, and put it on my pen-drive to take home n listen to, delete thereafter, no issues. My boss just took my speakers, literally, like a min ago!, he wants to watch some online news ... grrrrr.

Piraan - you're welcome to keep Korrodead stuff forever (so say we all - we never did it for money, just to get experience of the whole album-making process from start to finish) but because it is part of an Obsecration split album you have to get rid of the first half if you want to be completely law-abiding and respectful to the Greek guys! If you really like it I'll try to dig out a copy of the original version of the 22-minute EP. Basically if you prefer the sound of the last track of the official release then you'll prefer the self-released mix. Things got a little too clinical in the remix for my tastes.
Ewan is keeping quiet about his absolutely HILARIOUS Beautician project... but send him a PM about that as we've already hijacked the Pestilence issue

I was telling Piraan the names of some of Beautician's songs the other day (notice the pun on Mortician's titles): "Final Mudbath", "Mortal Manicure", "Waxed up for Public View", "Shampoo and Set (in Concrete)", "Diet by the Sword", "Heavy Metal Never Will be Died (but its Hair will)", etc. hahah!
Yeah please do tell us what you're up to with that project.
Oh I must check out Mike's stuff! I think he linked me to it but that was long time back and I barely remember it now.
